INTRODUCTION
Technological information is disseminated through patents. You can reach almost all technologies through patents, you may study, master them, and if legally possible (i.e. if there is no protection provided by patent, as will be explained later) you may make, use, and sell the teachings of the patent. Once you know the technology, if you can come up with some new, useful, and unobvious improvement thereto, you may be granted a patent as well. This site's purpose is to promote the use of patents to manufacture and create technologies. The site is designed in 4 sections: (If you are unfamiliar with patents it is recommended that you go through the sections in the given order) SECTION 1. Dissemination of technological knowledge through the patent system is disclosed with reference to court interpretations and decisions. SECTION 2. List of some patents that played an important role in the technological progress is given. SECTION 3. How to make an online patent search using U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's web site is explained with a detailed practical example. SECTION 4. How to use patents to manufacture and/or create technologies is described with emphasis to machine construction.
